Distilled from the agave plant, Mezcal is a local alcohol that is probably best known for having a worm in the bottle. From Mitla to Tule to Oaxaca, you will find many opportunities for tours of working mezcal distillers and tastings. There is also the chance to taste not just the well-known brands such as ‘Oro de Oaxaca’ but to try some of the mixed varieties such as FrutiCreme, a mixture of flavored creams (such as mango or coco) and mezcal, or even a local produced if you visit some of the smaller shops.
